A US DOLLAR SIGN CABINET BY ANDY WARHOL FOR HB, 1982, fitted for electricity, manufacturer’s label, numbered 72/500, distress 184,5cm high, 81cm wide, 46cm deep

Andy Warhol was an icon of the Pop Art movement. He is quoted as having said: ” I like money on the wall. Say you were going to buy a $200 000 painting, I think you should take that money, tie it up and hang it on the wall. Then, when someone visited you, the first thing they would see is the money on the wall. ” Executed in 1981, the series of dollar signs symbolised the union of art and money prevalent in the 1980s. This cabinet is funky and very much in vogue for the serious collector.
