The Peace Project & TheWhole9.com announce 2013 Theme “Peace, Love & Understanding”

The Peace Project & TheWhole9.com announce the world’s largest collaborative art project with this year’s theme of Peace, Love & Understanding. Since its inception just three years ago, 2,000 artists from over 50 countries worldwide have participated in this Call for Artists and joined hands to do their art for peace.

This unique collaboration between the international creative community, TheWhole9.com social networking site and The Peace Project has already helped to change tens of thousands of lives in Sierra Leone, Africa.

Putting a creative spin on another serious problem, The Peace Project has just announced its Peace Tips initiative, which aspires to deliver crutch tips to 1 million disabled people in post-conflict countries and help them lead more productive lives with less pain. Plus, these crutch tips leave a peace sign imprint – transforming war victims into powerful messengers of peace! Proceeds from the art contest will fund this initiative as well One Wednesdays, a Peace Project program that provides meals and other services to Culver City’s homeless.

“We are working to change the belief that the world’s problems are too big and that we are too small.” Lisa Schultz, Founder of The Peace Project and TheWhole9.com, says. “I’m often asked how we have come so far so fast. The power of so many artists saying yes has fueled our incredible progress.”

Peace, Love & Understanding opens June 25th at www.thewhole9.com/thepeaceproject. Submission fees are $10 and waived on request to allow all to participate. The top 15 entries receive cash and product prizes. The juried exhibit will be unveiled on World Peace Day, September 21st at Affair of the Arts festival in Culver City, CA, and will then tour the nation stopping in New York, NY, San Francisco, CA, Dallas, TX, and other locations TBA. All entries will be shown online and a book will be published.
