A vibrant fusion of photography, pop art, and movement at L’Atelier 21, showcasing the dynamic collaboration between Hassan Hajjaj and the Acrobatic Group of Tangier.

L’Atelier 21 is pleased to announce the second solo exhibition of visual artist Hassan Hajjaj, which will take place from December 10, 2024, to February 3, 2025. Entitled ‘Fiq !’, this exhibition celebrates the prowess of Moroccan acrobats, the fruit of an exceptional collaboration between Hassan Hajjaj and the Acrobatic Group of Tangier.
The genesis of this exhibition dates back to a meeting in 2018 in London between Hassan Hajjaj and Sanae El Kamouni, artistic director of the Groupe Acrobatique de Tanger, as well as Maroussia Diaz Verbèke, director, to imagine together a creation that would go beyond artistic and cultural boundaries. From this meeting was born the show “FIQ! “(Wake up!), launched in 2019 under the creative supervision of Hassan Hajjaj, who imagined the scenography, created the costumes, and brilliantly captured the agility and creativity of these young talents. From this proximity with the acrobats, the artist Hassan Hajjaj took shots that are the subject of his exhibition at L’Atelier 21.
In the text of the exhibition catalogue, Sanae El Kamouni describes their collaboration in these terms: “Seduced by Hassan’s approach, which transcends borders and disciplines, I found in his distinctive style a resonance with my vision. Mixing pop influences, Moroccan traditions and contemporary aesthetics, he manages to create a unique signature, both colorful And bold. He continued: “Through this show, we sought to capture the spirit of this new generation, anchored in its roots while being resolutely turned towards the future. Acrobatics, dance, and visual performances have intertwined in Hassan’s universe to give birth to a simultaneously committed, audacious, dynamic and poetic work. […] This exposure East A tribute has this complicity creative. Hassan Hajjaj is a world-renowned visual artist. His world has established him as one of the most influential Moroccan artists on the international scene. His works have been included in renowned collections including the Brooklyn Museum (United States), the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (United States), the British Museum (United Kingdom), the Victoria and Albert Museum (United Kingdom), the Guggenheim Museum (United Arab Emirates), the Barjeel Collection (United Arab Emirates) and the Maison Européenne de la Photographie (France).
Hassan Hajjaj lives and works between Marrakech and London.
