17 paid internship opportunities now open in copywriting, multimedia, hospitality, and performing arts administration

The University of Johannesburg’s Arts & Culture division is now accepting applications for the 2025–2026 cycle of its internship programme, which is funded by the Culture, Arts, Tourism, Hospitality, and Sport Sector Education and Training Authority (CATHSSETA). Designed to support recent graduates entering the creative industries, the programme offers structured mentorship, practical experience, and monthly stipends.
Seventeen internships are available across a range of departments at the university, focused on the following areas:
- Copywriting (4 positions)
- Multimedia (10 positions)
- Hospitality (1 position)
- Performing Arts Administration (2 positions)
All internships begin in December 2025 and run for 12 months. Successful applicants will receive a monthly stipend of R5,000 (subject to statutory deductions). The deadline for applications is 26 August 2025, at noon—no late submissions will be accepted.
About the Internship Roles
Copywriting Internship
Interns will gain hands-on experience in writing for various formats, including social media, advertising, media releases, and online and print editorial. The role is ideal for graduates looking to build skills in creative writing, campaign messaging, and digital communication.
Minimum qualification: Postgraduate degree or equivalent in Journalism or Copywriting from a public university.
Multimedia Internship
This role offers training in animation, video editing, and content creation for social media and marketing purposes. Interns will work on show reels, recorded interviews, and visual archives, learning how to use industry-standard software and storytelling techniques.
Minimum qualification: Postgraduate degree or equivalent in Multimedia from a public university.
Performing Arts Administration Internship
Interns will be mentored in programme planning, internal project management, and administrative systems related to the performing arts. The internship is well-suited for graduates seeking to develop skills in arts management and coordination.
Minimum qualification: Postgraduate degree or equivalent in Performing Arts from a public university.
