Writing Art History Since 2002

First Title

The Fringe runs concurrently with the Joburg Art Fair will again give art lovers the chance to see some extraordinary, possibly affordable, definitely discoverable emerging work; pieces that might push boundaries.

The event takes place at the Juta St precinct/vicinity (between Hoofd, Smit, Melle and De Beer Streets, Braamfontein , Johannesburg). 2012 sees the Joburg Fringe remaining loyal to this developing precinct and happening across three venues as well as some satellite spaces in the city. A big first is A STAND at the Joburg Art Fair which will show works by 2012 Joburg Fringe artists chosen from the juried show. This innovation titled “Trade Rerouted”is generously supported by the Joburg Art Fair; sponsored by the Joburg Art Fair and the Goethe-Institut of South Africa and curated by Nontobeko Ntombela of the Joburg Art Gallery. The Joburg Fringe opening is at 6 pm on 5th of September 2012, one day ahead of the Joburg Art Fair.
