Sharjah Art Foundation has announced the open call for the 13th edition of Vantage Point Sharjah (VPS), its annual photography exhibition. Established in 2013 to encourage public engagement with photography, VPS has grown from a platform for UAE-based photographers to an international event that embraces all forms of lens-based media.

New Photography Gallery and Expanded Artist Support

For the first time, VPS will be presented in the Foundation’s new Photography Gallery in Al Manakh, Sharjah. The 450-square-metre space is dedicated to photography and offers expanded facilities for artists and audiences. Alongside this development, VPS introduces a new element to the programme: production support for original bodies of work.

Through the open call, four photographers will each be awarded a production fee of 40,000 AED and a separate artist fee to develop a new photographic series. These projects will premiere in the exhibition, scheduled to open in July 2026. While existing works may be submitted, the programme emphasises the creation of new series, encouraging artists to push the boundaries of the medium and explore photography’s evolving role in contemporary art.

About Vantage Point Sharjah

Over its 12 previous editions, VPS has become a cornerstone of Sharjah Art Foundation’s annual programme, highlighting the diversity and dynamism of contemporary photography. Each year, the exhibition attracts artists exploring a wide range of themes, from documentary practice and portraiture to experimental approaches. The initiative has played an essential role in building visibility for emerging and established photographers in the region and internationally.

The 13th edition marks a significant expansion of the programme, both in terms of space and resources. By establishing a dedicated Photography Gallery and offering direct production support, the Foundation strengthens its commitment to supporting artists in the development of ambitious new work.
