Pivô Boulevard invites artists and researchers to apply for seven artistic residencies in Salvador, Brazil, supporting research, production and exchange across three residency programmes in 2027.
23 September 2026

Open Call:
Pivô Boulevard has opened applications for its 2027 Artistic Residencies, inviting artists and researchers aged 18 and over to develop or deepen an artistic project or research practice through immersion in Brazil.
Seven participants will be selected across three residency pathways: Pivô Imersão, Pivô Conexão and Pivô-Videobrasil: Practices of the Moving Image. Depending on the programme, selected residents receive financial support, accommodation, travel, health insurance, curatorial guidance, workspace and opportunities for public engagement.
Institutional Context:
Founded in 2011, Pivô is an independent contemporary art platform dedicated to artistic exchange, research and experimentation. Its programme encompasses exhibitions, commissioned projects, artistic residencies, publications and public programmes.
Pivô Boulevard opened in Salvador in 2023 in the historic Boulevard Suíço, a house built in 1934 by Bahian painter Presciliano Silva that later became a meeting place for artists and intellectuals. The residency programme creates space for research and experimentation while encouraging dialogue with Salvador, its communities and cultural networks.
Eligibility and Criteria:
The call is open to artists and researchers aged 18 and over working within the arts who wish to develop or expand an artistic project or research practice.
Eligibility varies by residency pathway.
Pivô Imersão offers four places to Brazilian applicants living anywhere in Brazil. Participants choose between a research project or a research and production project.
Pivô Conexão, developed with Chão SLZ, supports exchange between Bahia and Maranhão. One artist from Bahia will undertake a residency at Chão SLZ in São Luís, while one artist from Maranhão will undertake a residency at Pivô Boulevard in Salvador.
Pivô-Videobrasil: Practices of the Moving Image offers one residency to a Brazilian applicant living anywhere in Brazil whose practice engages with audiovisual work, video art, moving image and related experimental contemporary art forms.
Evaluation Process:
The selection committee will select seven participants across the three residency programmes.
Applicants should consult the complete open call guidelines before applying, particularly as eligibility, project format, residency location and available support differ between the three pathways.
