First Title

AMAK, the Azania Mania Art Kolektiv, is new comic art boutique gallery in Muizenberg, attached to the Alive Café Creative Experience Hub. The new space is spearheaded by the Centre for Comic, Illustrative and Book Arts’ (CCIBA’s) Head of the Comic Art Unit, Andy Mason, better known by his pen name, “N.D. Mazin”. You are invited to the opening on Friday 3 October at 18h30.

The opening will also see the launch of the first group exhibition GRAPHIC RADICALS at the cutting edge of comic art, featuring 21 of Cape Town’s best comic and satirical artists andrepresenting a mix of comics and comix, comic-inspired illustration, political cartooning and street/skate/surf art, a combination of contemporary style and an underground garnish.  
Friday will also be the launch party for AMAK’s new inter-community art programme PARALLEL LIVES, the project for people who can’t stop drawing.
The programme includes:
Openeing address by Zapiro
Music by Texas Radio
Live art  by Serge One Love, Care, Marti, Rayzer and Anwar
Doodle Table in support of PARALLEL LIVES
Some very fine Comic & Pop Art by 18 of Cape Town’s most happening comic artists
Lots of local Comics and all sorts of Comic- related Merchandise will be on sale
Cash bar, cool drinks, coffees and tidbits will be available.
