New alliances between developing countries are being forged in the political and economic arena and the art world is not immune. The South Project, a five-year initiative hosted by Craft Victoria in Australia, fosters south-south cultural exchange. It is headed this year for Johannesburg following three iterations in Melbourne (2004), Wellington (2005) and Santiago (2006).
