The Foundation for Contemporary Art in Ghana needs your help! In June 2015 the heavy rains and flooding in Accra, Ghana, caused major damage to the library and project space when a tree fell on the building. In order to make the space functional once more, they’ve put out a call to assist their crowdfunding campaign. Here’s how you can help.

In June 2015 the heavy rains and flooding in Accra, Ghana caused major damage to the library and project space when a tree fell on the building. With the roofing destroyed the rain water flooded the space, damaging most of the software and books, a collection that has taken over ten years to build.

The library was a major source of reference material for artists and aspiring scholars. The space also created a working environment for artists to exchange knowledge and ideas and functioned as a platform for youth-focused workshops for children who would otherwise not have access to adequate learning materials.

In order to continue its practice, the centre have sent out a call for support. They need funding to restore their library and project space, to replenish the collection of books lost, to install solar panels and to power the centre.

Alternatively, any support provided would be much appreciated; whether you’re a book shop with material, a voice in media, practice in energy or supply construction materials, they need all the help they can get.

Now more than ever it is necessary that public and private sectors get behind the arts in order to create a sustainable, independent platform for creatives in Africa. A massive thank you to the following people/organisations for showing their support.
