GHOSTMACHINE Gallery’s latest open call offers artists a collaborative exhibition model that foregrounds dialogue between curator and practitioner.

11 April 2026

Open Call:
GHOSTMACHINE Gallery has announced an open call for artists to participate in a two- or three-person exhibition curated by Dominika Tylcz, scheduled to run from 31 July to 29 August 2026 at the gallery’s New York storefront.

The call is open to both individual artists and collectives working across all media, with no restriction on career stage. Rather than a large-group show, the format emphasises a tighter curatorial framework, allowing selected artists to engage more directly with the exhibition context and each other’s work.

Institutional Context:
Located on Monroe Street in New York, GHOSTMACHINE Gallery operates as an alternative exhibition space that challenges the traditional commercial gallery model.

The gallery foregrounds experimentation and collaboration, positioning itself as a platform where artists and curators work closely together to produce exhibitions outside rigid market-driven structures. Its stated aim is to “disrupt the flawed hierarchy system” by prioritising artists’ voices and fostering a more direct relationship between artwork and audience.

Eligibility and Criteria:
The open call welcomes submissions from artists and collectives of all backgrounds and experience levels, working in any medium.

Applicants must submit recent work (produced within the last five years), accompanied by a short biography and artist statement. While international applications are accepted, artists are responsible for shipping their work to and from New York if selected.

In addition, selected artists are expected to participate in the installation and de-installation process, signalling the gallery’s emphasis on collaborative production.

Evaluation Process:
Up to ten applicants will be shortlisted for studio visits with the guest curator, Dominika Tylcz.

From this group, two or three artists will be selected for the final exhibition. Applications not selected will remain on file for consideration in future exhibitions, art fairs, and off-site projects, extending the potential visibility of submissions beyond the immediate call.

Practical Information:

  • Application opens: 9 March 2026
  • Deadline: 19 April 2026 (23:59 EST)
  • Notification: Mid-June 2026
  • Exhibition dates: 31 July – 29 August 2026

Applicants must submit:

  • A 250-word biography
  • A 250-word artist statement
  • Up to five images of recent work
  • Artwork details (title, year, medium, dimensions)

An application fee of $25 is required.

Applications and Queries:
Applications are submitted online via GHOSTMACHINE Gallery’s platform.
