A Fully Funded Residency Supporting Palestinian Artistic Practice

Gasworks has opened applications for its 2026 Residency for Palestinian Artists, an eleven-week fully funded opportunity designed to support emerging and mid-career practitioners working anywhere in the world. Running from 7 July to 21 September 2026, the residency reflects Gasworks’ long-standing commitment to fostering experimental, socially engaged, and research-led artistic practices through time, space, and international exchange.

Residency Structure and Support

Conceived as a self-directed, process-based programme, the residency offers artists the freedom to focus on research and development rather than on production outcomes. The selected resident will receive a private studio at Gasworks, accommodation in the organisation’s Residency House, return travel, visa assistance, a weekly living stipend, a materials budget, and a London travel card. Curatorial, pastoral, and administrative support is provided throughout, complemented by opportunities for studio visits with peers and arts professionals.

The residency culminates in an Open Studio on 12 September 2026, inviting audiences to encounter the artist’s work-in-progress and research insights.

Who Can Apply

The open call is aimed at Palestinian artists working within contemporary visual arts, regardless of medium, approach, or geographical location. Applications are welcome from painters, sculptors, installation artists, performers, digital and new media practitioners, socially engaged artists, and those working across disciplinary boundaries.

A selection panel composed of Gasworks staff and external experts in contemporary Palestinian art will review applications. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to online interviews before the final selection is made.

A Commitment to Global Artistic Exchange

The residency forms part of Gasworks’ broader mission to nurture cultural dialogue through its international network of residencies. Each year, the organisation hosts up to twenty artists from around the world, offering time, resources, and support to develop new ideas while engaging with London’s creative ecosystem.

The 2026 Palestinian Residency is generously supported by the Gasworks’ Palestinian Residency Patrons Circle.

Applications close on 12 January 2026 at 1 pm (UK time). For full details and to apply, visit Gasworks.
