Global open call invites artists under 35 to apply for one of the world’s leading contemporary art prizes.
26 May 2026

Open Call:
Applications are now open for the eighth edition of the Future Generation Art Prize, an international contemporary art prize supporting emerging artists aged 35 and under from anywhere in the world. Established by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation and organised by the PinchukArtCentre in Kyiv, the prize aims to discover, recognise and provide long-term support to the next generation of artists.
The biannual prize is open to artists working in any medium, including painting, sculpture, installation, photography, video, digital art and performance.
Institutional Context:
Founded in 2009, the Future Generation Art Prize has become a major international platform for emerging contemporary artists. Previous editions have supported more than 100 artists through exhibitions at the PinchukArtCentre in Kyiv and presentations linked to the Venice Biennale.
Past winners include artists such as Lynette Yiadom Boakye, Dineo Seshee Bopape and Emilija Škarnulytė, many of whom have gone on to significant international recognition.
The main prize winner receives a total award of US$100,000, including:
- US$60,000 in cash
- US$40,000 invested in the artist’s future practice and production
Additional special prizes totalling US$20,000 may also be awarded to shortlisted artists at the discretion of the jury.
Eligibility and Criteria:
Applicants must:
- Be aged 35 or younger at the time of application.
- Work in any contemporary art medium.
- Submit applications independently through the online open call process.
There are no restrictions on nationality, gender, race, or artistic medium. Former winners are not eligible to reapply, but previous applicants who still meet the eligibility criteria may apply again.
Alongside the public open call, more than 300 international art experts, including curators, artists, critics and educators, will nominate additional candidates from around the world.
Evaluation Process:
All submissions will be reviewed by an international selection committee appointed by members of the jury. Up to 20 artists will be shortlisted for exhibition at the PinchukArtCentre in Kyiv in spring 2027.
Shortlisted artists will be commissioned to produce new work for the exhibition, with the final prize winners selected by a distinguished international jury during the exhibition period.
