Artists of all nationalities are invited to apply for Fundación Botín’s 2026–2027 Art Grants, offering €23,000 to support research, training, and production projects. Applications close 8 May 2026.

OPEN CALL
Fundación Botín has announced the 33rd edition of its Art Grants, awarding six grants to support individual artistic projects across research, training, and production.
Each selected artist will receive €23,000 to develop their work over a nine-month period, with outcomes presented in the Itinerarios exhibition and accompanying publication at Centro Botín.
Institutional Context
Established in 1993, the Fundación Botín Art Grants programme has supported over 200 artists internationally, fostering experimentation and long-term artistic development.
The initiative forms part of the foundation’s broader commitment to contemporary art, with many grant recipients going on to exhibit widely and participate in major international platforms.
Eligibility and Criteria
The grants are open to individual artists of any nationality working across contemporary visual practices.
Applicants must submit a clearly defined project proposal focused on training, non-academic research, or artistic production.
One of the six grants is reserved for a Spanish artist or an artist resident in Spain for at least 5 years, under 30, proposing a project that involves relocation abroad.
Evaluation Process
Applications are assessed by a jury of artists, curators, and art professionals, with final decisions announced in July 2026.
Selection is based on the strength of the proposal, the relevance of the project, and its potential contribution to contemporary artistic practice.
Practical Information
Each grant supports a nine-month working period and may be used to cover living expenses, travel, materials, and production costs.
Funded projects will be presented publicly at Centro Botín as part of the Itinerarios exhibition, with additional opportunities for publication and institutional support.
Applications must be completed online and submitted in print via post to Fundación Botín in Santander, Spain.

The application period runs until 8 May 2026, with submissions required to be postmarked by the deadline.
Applicants must complete an online form and submit supporting documentation, including project materials and required forms, by mail.
Results will be announced before mid-July 2026 via the Fundación Botín and Centro Botín websites.
