Open Call:
Applications are now open for the 2027 round of Culture Resource’s Production Awards, a programme supporting young artists and writers from the Arab region in developing and producing new creative projects.
The programme awards up to 25 grants each year, supporting five projects across five disciplines: Literature, Visual Arts, Music & Sound Art, Performing Arts and Cinema.
Funding reaches up to €8,500 for visual arts, performing arts, and music and sound art projects, €6,500 for literature, and €13,000 for cinema.
Institutional Context:
Culture Resource, also known as Al-Mawred Al-Thaqafy, is a regional non-profit organisation founded in 2003. Its work focuses on supporting artistic creativity in the Arab region while encouraging cultural exchange within the region and internationally.
Launched in 2004, the Production Awards programme has provided around 400 grants to artists from the Arab region, supporting emerging practitioners in bringing new creative projects into production.
Eligibility and Criteria:
Applicants must have been born between January 1992 and December 2011 and originate from an Arab country, regardless of ethnicity, citizenship status or whether they currently live in the Arab region or abroad.
Applications must be submitted by the principal creative practitioner responsible for the project. Depending on the discipline, this may be the film director, writer, theatre or performance director, choreographer, musician, sound artist, producer, visual artist or curator.
Previous Production Awards recipients may reapply if their previous grant has been closed and two rounds have passed since they last received an award. Applicants may submit only one project per round.
The programme does not support projects that have already been produced or presented. It also excludes websites, workshops, organisational support, academic or art research-centred projects and television series.
Evaluation Process:
Independent juries review eligible applications for each of the five disciplines, with each jury comprising three members who change annually.
Projects are assessed on the quality and relevance of the proposal, originality, the practicality of the proposed budget, and the feasibility of completing the project within the required timeframe.
Practical Information:
Supported projects must be completed within a maximum of 18 months from the signing of the grant agreement. Grant funding cannot be used to purchase machinery or equipment and should be spent within the Arab region and/or benefit talent and resources from the region.
Complete applications in Arabic, except for fields that specifically require English. Supporting documents must be submitted in PDF, JPEG or PNG format. Applicants under 18 must provide additional documentation, including parental or guardian approval.
Applications and Queries:
Applications close on 19 October 2026 at 16:00 Beirut time.
Applications should be submitted through Culture Resource’s online application platform. Applicants are encouraged to read the full guidelines and required documentation carefully before submitting, as incomplete applications or submissions that do not follow the programme guidelines will not be considered.
