The Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation presents the group exhibition ‘Foam Talent 2024’ on 28 March 2025 at The Cube in Eschborn. Featuring 19 emerging artists from 13 countries, the exhibition provides unique insights into contemporary issues and artistic discourses. Through photography, film, and installations, the artists challenge conventional perspectives and push the boundaries of visual storytelling.

Part of the Foam Talent programme, the exhibition serves as a platform for young artists and highlights evolving trends in contemporary photography. Since 2017, the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation has been a key supporter, acquiring works from each edition of the programme.

The featured artists explore themes such as the unseen influence of internet algorithms, the deconstruction of gender stereotypes, and the lingering impact of colonialism. Their innovative approaches combine traditional photography with new technologies, archival research, and digital experimentation, encouraging viewers to reflect on social and cultural dynamics in an ever-changing world.

Selected Works from the Exhibition

The following projects illustrate the diverse perspectives and artistic methods of ‘Foam Talent 2024’:

  • Marisol Mendez (‘Madre’) explores religious and societal expectations of femininity in Bolivia through expressive portraits of women depicted as sinners or saints.
  • Ricardo Nagaoka (‘Autobiographies’): Challenges traditional masculinity with intimate black-and-white portraits of young men, balancing vulnerability and self-expression.
  • Rehab Eldalil (‘The Longing of the Stranger Whose Path Has Been Broken’): Documents Bedouin life in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, intertwining photography with embroidery and poetry.
  • Thero Makepe (‘We Didn’t Choose to be Born Here’): Merges family archives with contemporary photography to examine the legacy of Apartheid and displacement in South Africa.
  • Sander Coers (‘POST’): Uses AI to reimagine family photos, blurring the lines between reality and fiction.
  • Andrea Orejarena and Caleb Stein (‘American Glitch’) capture real-life locations resembling internet-documented optical illusions, questioning perception and reality.
