First Title

In anticipation of our interview with Rabbit founder Harry Ravelomanantsoa in the upcoming March Issue (13.3) of ARTsouthAFRICA, we’d like to remind you of the incredible 3D printing technology available at your fingertips in the heart of Cape Town.

Rabbit is a premium Digital Manufacturing boutique studio based in Cape Town, South Africa, focusing primarily in 3D printing, modelling, scanning and design consulting.

Founded in early 2014 by brothers Marc and Harry Ravelomanantsoa, Rabbit has very quickly found its place in the demanding world of industrial design and prototype building of all types. With an appetite for knowledge and constantly striving to learn from others, the Rabbit team is slowly forging alliances with industry experts and professionals around the world to bring South Africans a taste of the best in the future of manufacturing.

At the end of last year, Rabbit teamed up with Wizardz Design & Print in Gardens Centre to create a 3D printing pop-up shop! This exciting partnership provides the public with the incredible opportunity to create virtually anything in 3D, exposing 3D printing and digital manufacturing, as Ravelomanantsoa says,  “to everyone who is interested in exploring their inner ability to create.”

A first for South Africa, this collaboration brings together 2 worlds: the latest technology in traditional printing and the forefront of Additive Manufacturing technology otherwise known as 3D printing. Whilst 3D printing has been around in South Africa for a while, it has been primarily reserved for use in industrial design, aeronautical engineering and research, and not yet widely introduced to the general public.

Rabbit has also brought 3D printing to the Neighbourgoods Market in Woodstock, now open every Saturday from 8am ‘til 2pm – the first 3D printing retail outlet of it’s kind in South Africa.
