New Art Exchange launches year-long development programme for community-focused organisations.
26 May 2026

Open Call:
New Art Exchange (NAE) is inviting applications from Nottingham-based organisations for Cultivate, a year-long development programme designed to support organisations in strengthening a key area of their work and planning for future growth.
The programme offers time, space and strategic support for organisations to reflect on their practice, explore new ideas and develop a clearer vision for the next stage of their development.
Institutional Context:
Cultivate is part of NAE’s wider talent development model, which aims to sustain and enhance the careers of individuals and organisations from the Global Ethnic Majority within the creative industries. Through mentoring, professional development, and national platforming opportunities, the programme supports underrepresented talent in developing resilient, sustainable creative practices.
The selected organisation will take part in:
- Two development workshops focused on ambition and vision.
- Mentoring conversations
- An organisational review and reflection process designed to support learning and strategic planning
The programme also includes a £2,000 grant to support participation.
Eligibility and Criteria:
Applications are open to Nottingham-based organisations that meet one of the following criteria:
- Organisations based in Hyson Green
- Global Ethnic Majority-led organisations based elsewhere in Nottingham that work directly with communities in Hyson Green.
NAE welcomes applications from organisations working across arts, culture and community practice that are interested in developing a specific area of their organisation.
Applications will be assessed competitively based on artistic quality, relevance, organisational potential, feasibility and alignment with NAE’s mission and values.
Evaluation Process:
Applications are reviewed through a structured and transparent selection process designed to ensure fairness, relevance and alignment with NAE’s organisational values.
Selection panels include citizen representation, creative practitioners and industry expertise, with a commitment to Global Ethnic Majority representation across decision-making panels.
Where high application numbers are received, NAE may use a two-stage assessment process involving an initial eligibility review followed by panel shortlisting.
Practical Information:
- Deadline to apply: Monday, 1 June, 12pm midday
Programme offer:
- Year-long organisational development support
- Two strategic workshops
- Mentoring and organisational review
- £2,000 participation grant
