The 2Roads Foundation has opened applications for its inaugural Gallery on the Greens Residency, a six-week programme supporting emerging and independent visual artists. Hosted at the 2Roads Retreat on the banks of the Vaal River, the residency offers selected artists dedicated time and space to develop new bodies of work while engaging with mentors, peers, and the broader arts community. The programme concludes with a curated exhibition in Johannesburg and an opportunity to participate in an international exhibition in early 2026.

Institutional Context:

Through the Gallery on the Greens Residency, the Foundation aims to nurture the next generation of visual artists by providing an environment that encourages experimentation, creative exchange, and professional development.

Eligibility and Criteria:

Applications are open to self-taught visual artists and those who graduated within the past three years. The residency is intended for emerging practitioners seeking to deepen their artistic practice through focused studio time and mentorship.

Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to developing their practice and be prepared to produce a new body of work during the residency. Full application requirements are available from the Foundation.

Evaluation Process:

Applications will be reviewed by the 2Roads Foundation, with selected artists chosen for their artistic potential and suitability for the residency programme. Successful applicants will participate in the six-week residency and receive professional mentorship throughout the programme.
