The deadline for applications for the Clover Aardklop National Arts Festival is Monday, 11 February 2013. This is applicable for productions as well as visual arts applications.
Artists can apply for a set fee (commissioned productions) and box-office productions (a percentage split).
The extent of prizes awarded at the festival for debut productions encourages artists to have their first performance at the Clover Aardklop National Arts Festival.
The AngloGold Ashanti/Aardklop Smeltkroes Prize is awarded to the best new Afrikaans play, with the playwright and the director both winning R30 000. The playwright will receive a further R28 000 to write a new play for Clover Aardklop’s festival in 2014. The Beeld Aartvark Prize for innovative work for a debut production amounts to R20 000.
