Writing Art History Since 2002

First Title

Established in 1960 between lake and mountain, the Annecy International Animated Film Festival is today the largest event in the world dedicated to this cinematography. Supplemented in 1985 by the International Animation Film Market (Mifa), in June the Festival brings together more than 12,000 participants, students, professionals and journalists from 92 countries.

For 6 days, there are screenings of films in competition, previews, retrospectives, conferences, exhibitions, dedications and business meetings. Celebrating creativity as well as the diversity of styles and techniques (from drawing to virtual reality), programming blockbusters like auteur films, the event bridges the gap between art and industry and allows talents from around the world to meet. Thirty prizes are awarded, the most prestigious of which is the Cristal d’Annecy. The Festival saw the greatest personalities of animation: from Paul Grimault to Guillermo del Toro via Norman McLaren, Claire Parker & Alexandre Alexeïeff, Hayao Miyazaki, Florence Miailhe, Tim Burton, Pete Docter, Dean DeBlois, Michel Ocelot…

The 2020 edition, held online, brought together 15,570 accredited members from 111 countries. The Annecy International Animation Film Festival wants to celebrate African animation.
