ART AFRICA would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to Stephan Welz, who passed away on 25 December 2015. Welz worked as a fine art expert and an auctioneer for over 35 years, becoming the premier figure in his field and the Managing Director of Strauss&Co. On 13 November 2015 ART AFRICA had the opportunity to speak to Welz about the art market in South Africa; some of the challenges that Strauss&Co face as an auction house, their online platform and the importance of accesibility.
