Writing Art History Since 2002

First Title

Visual arts is an important part of any respectable art festival and Clover Aardklop is no exception to the rule. A group of extremely talented photographers will add visual entertainment to this year’s Clover Aardklop Art Festival’s line up.

The photographer, Daniel Naudé, is the 2012 festival artist. Daniel has a wonderful talent to encapsulate a moment in time with his camera. In this exhibition, Animal Farm, a series of Daniel’s photographs that was taken of the Africanis dog is displayed. Each captured moment is a glimpse of a “meeting point” between him and the animal in a natural realm.

Photography forms an important part of the art at this year’s festival. Long Distance is an exhibition of Obie Oberholzer’s photographs. This exhibition shows exactly how Oberholzer, as a lone planet wanderer, embraces the world when he takes his shots. A multi-dimensional exhibition is INK-Complete: Capturing Music II. Photographers Sean Brand and Christelle Duvenage took their cameras along to live band performances and with their photos they explore the relationship between musicians and their tattoos. Part of this exhibition is a video documentary where Bouwer Bosch explains the emotionaljourney one undertakes in the process of having a tattoo done.

One of the highlights this year is, the ever popular ATKV-Skilder met woorde III, curated by the ATKV. Seven visual artists and seven poets were commissioned to create an artwork and a poem with the theme “1-2-3 block myself!” Participants include the artists Strijdom van der Merwe, Pauline Gutter, Nathan Trantraal, Sam Nhlengethwa, Elizabeth Gunter, Karin Miller and Diek Grobler and the poets Diana Ferrus, Tom Gouws, Ronelda Kamfer, Johan Myburg, Melt Myburgh, Martjie Bosman and DanieMarais.
