AN EXCITING NEW FUSION OF FOOD, FOODIE AND FOOD MOVIES AT THE FREEWORLD DESIGN CENTRE

During the month of November food-lovers will be salivating over theexciting food-related events at the Freeworld Design Centre in Cape Town. TheFreeworld Design Centre in collaboration with Hemelhuijs, local foodcelebrities and Design Indaba, will be running a delectable series of themedevenings where renowned Foodies will be introducing the screening of theirall-time favourite Food Movie, accompanied by a meal designed to fit the movieby food artist Jacques Erasmus of Hemelhuijs. This fresh new concept for anevening out, kicks-off at 18h00 with Sundowners at the Freeworld roofbar, whichhas panoramic views of the City Bowl and is the perfect spot to wind down afterwork. The themed meal follows at 18h45, and then the personalized Foodieintroduction and the film at 20h00. The movie will be screened in Freeworld’s 98-seater,upmarket auditorium. Guests can choose between the sundowner sessions, themovie-and-meal combo, just the movie, or all three. The Food, Foodie and Food Movie evenings take place on 3,9,10, 16, 23, 24 and 30 November 2011. At Sundowners on the 23rd ofNovember, the Name Your Hood campaign will reveal the name of the hood in whichthe Freeworld Design Centre is located. Seating for the Food-Movie nights is limited and tickets can be bookedthrough www.webtickets.co.za. Ticketsare R120 for the meal and the movie (excluding beverages). Tickets for themovie alone are R40. There is no entry fee for the Sundowner Sessions and aCash Bar is available. These themed Food-Movie evenings are connected to a “Design for Food”interior design exhibition, which is on show at the Freeworld Design Centrefrom 3 November 2011 to 21 January 2012. The exhibition features the work ofMaranda Engelbrecht of Babylonstoren in collaboration with fashion photographerGerda Genis; Tina Bester of Queen of Tarts; Jacques Erasmus of Hemelhuijs andLuke Dale Roberts of Test Kitchen in collaboration with Casamento. Theexhibition opening night is on 3 November from 6pm. There will be a lucky drawfor a Stokke Tripp Trapp feeding chair.
