The ‘BRIGHT YOUNG THINGS’ Award and Residency Programme was created by ART AFRICA to support and celebrate the new contemporary art vanguard: bright, young, unapologetic – artists who deserve opportunity.

In 2017 ART AFRICA invited eight artists, among the most promising and talented of their generation, to unveil exclusive recent work to the public. They come from Kenya, Mozambique, Senegal, South Africa, DRC, and Ivory Coast. Firmly committed to ‘becoming themselves’, they are all headed to play a significant role in today’s society, and exemplify: ART AS A WAY TO TAKE ACTION.
